| Hello my friends. I guess I've decided to leave this alone a little early. As you know, I'm leaving in a week from tomorrow (July 3rd) for Utah, where I'll be at the Missionary Training Center for somewhere around 12 weeks learning Korean. My visa application says I should be entering the country sometime around September 19th, and from that point until July 5th, 2008, I'll be in South Korea preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Here's how to reach me:
MTC mailing address (July 5th through Sep. 19th): Elder Shane Stephen Richter Korea Daejeon Mission Provo Missionary Training Center 2005 N 900 E Provo, UT 84604
Letters to the mission field (Sep. 19th, 2006 through July 5th, 2008): Elder Shane Stephen Richter Korea Daejeon Mission Daejeon PO Box 38 Daejeon-si 300-600 SOUTH KOREA
Anything other than letters to the mission field (dates same as above): Elder Shane Stephen Richter Korea Daejeon Mission 63-2 Hongdo-dong Dong-gu Daejeon-si 300-836 SOUTH KOREA
I still have a week until I'm outta here, which means if you want to hang out with me before I leave, now's your chance. If you don't already have it, my cell phone number is 619-207-3941. Otherwise I guess I'll just wait for your letters. You should probably write me first so I have your address... Anywho, while I'm in the MTC you can use www.dearelder.com for free, which is really easy to use. Just make sure you say I'm in the Provo MTC mission, not the Daejeon mission. Once I make it to Korea, you have to pay for www.dearelder.com, so you might as well write a real letter.
That's about it. I guess I'll see you guys in a couple years! | | |
| Just got back from the fair and seeing Styx. Man it was rockin'. Whoever said they sucked live were wrong. Anywho, had a great time with all my great friends, especially just talking at the end of the night. Had to say some more g'byes, something I'm getting used to. How sad.
Ryan and I also went to the Temple for one last time before our missions. It was a great experience.
People are finally starting to get mission calls again. What I've heard so far...Dallas Haueter to Salt Lake City, UT, Sam Tillman to Dallas, TX, and Jon Flint to Santiago, Chile, all three Spanish-speaking. Even cooler though...Guillaume Bergeron called me yesterday to let me know he got his call...to Daejeon, Korea! Sweet, I'm way excited to know someone in my mission already. He enters on August 16th, so about 6 weeks after me, so I'll definitely be seeing him in the MTC (not to mention the field). Exciting stuff!
Speaking of Dallas (the person), he's coming back down to SD this weekend, Sunday night to Tuesday morning. Awesome.
Radiohead...Tuesday...oh man...
Only a couple more days until Ryan's gone. I'm not too worried though because we'll be living in the same square mile or so for about 7 weeks.
9 more days for me. | | |
| The Best of Times...
Geez, Stephen's gone now. Ryan's got a week. I've got another week after that.
All of our farewell talks were last Sunday (and Sarah's too!). It was awesome; my grandparents came down, lots of good friends came to Sacrament Meeting, and I didn't struggle too much. Matt spoke too, so that made it even cooler. It was all about Following the Prophet. Later on in Elder's Quorum we had cookies for all the guys (Father's Day), so that took up some time from my lesson, which was definitely okay! I had 15 minutes to teach about how the scriptures are rich treasures in our lives. Stephen's and Ryan's talks were sweet. They made a few more shout-outs than I did for sure.
Lots of cool people came over to my house for my Farewell Party. It's weird, because Stephen and Ryan were there and both of them leave before I do. I still have two weeks... But it was cool to have people over anyway. Afterwards I just watched the Heat vs. Mavs Game 5 with my family.
Yesterday Dustin, Matt, Tawnee, and I went to VIP for lunch. Yummy, no place else can you have fries, sushi, and a little baby octopus on your plate at the same time. We hit up La Jolla shores, which was dang crowded but lots of fun. After boogie-boarding and chilling in the sun for a couple hours, we went back to Tawnee's house to swim. I took my family out to Fuddrucker's for dinner just for fun, and after that we went back to Matt's house to play foosball, pool, air hockey, and catch phrase.
So far today I've been cleaning up, doing laundry, and getting stuff together for when I leave. Chris is coming down, so Ryan and I might go to the beach with him. I'll deposit my paycheck and other moneys after that, and tonight I'm going with Adam and Tracy to eat some real Korean food. Yummmmy
